What is that?
NeTAMS stands for Network Traffic Accounting and Monitoring Software. It is built for UNIX and works for networks with Cisco routers or PC Unix routers (Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris). Several methods of traffic gathering are supported
(tee/divert/ip_queue/libpcap/ulog/netflow v5 and v9/netgraph), database storage (BerkleyDB/MySQL/PostgresSQL/Oracle/Radius), aggregation, visualization,
notification etc. It is possible to block traffic based on quotas, web authorization, account balance (billing); limit bandwidth, check for MAC violations, enable RADIUS services,
create flexible accounting and filtering policies (complete list).
How it works?
NeTAMS is a multithreaded daemon application written in C++, which works on your PC-router or dedicated server. IP traffic is
either forwarded by this computer, or router receives it from the external box (SPAN port), or another device
sends a netflow stream onto it. An appropriate database is running there (or on a near server). Web server is offering an interface
to traffic statistics to your network cutomers, and gives you a set of Perl/CGI management scripts.
